The game is a definite change of pace from most, and some will find the puzzles and style tedious or boring, however, those willing to undertake the task and sit back and enjoy the world created in Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition are in for a treat. The art design, soundtrack, and environment are top notch, working together to create an unforgettable experience. Spirit of the North is a decent game let down some by subpar controls and underuse of the player characters abilities. The game is stunning visually, a great improvement on the standard edition of the game, and shows off nicely the added power in the PlayStation 5. A beautifully rendered Iceland provides the backdrop for a captivating tale of companionship delivered through equally compelling, albeit occasionally clunky, gameplay. While the lack of "action" due to the game lacking enemies, Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition relies on puzzles and strategy to entertain the player. I feel like Spirit of the North could have been a great game in the right hands. The story takes root from various pieces of Nordic folklore. If just one of the controls were wonky, you might be able to compensate, but most of your time spent exploring the mountain and surrounds is spent doing various jumping puzzles to activate various magical gates and solve some sort of puzzle to advance to the next area, and the combination of awkward turning and hard to time and judge jumps makes what turns out.
